Goal Alignment – play for the team.

If your vision is big enough, you won’t be able to achieve it on your own!

But declaring your goal and sharing it with your team is not enough, even aiming for the same result is not. 

If YOU want to win the game or  if you want YOUR TEAM to win the game will influence your behaviour during the game – and therefor the likelihood to win. 

So rather than declaring your goal, let them fall in love with your dream and show them the steps that are needed to achieve it. Let them fall in love so much that they want to contribute, that they come to you wanting to support your mission.

Once you have them on board, let them be impactful, make sure their work is meaningful and that they feel valued. At the same time, make sure that they can’t solve their projects on their own.

Magic always happens when people understand their talents and strengths and at the same time, acknowledge the talents and strengths of the people around them: Collaboration for a higher purpose is build on trust, connection, commitment and focus on achieving collective goals. This is how functional teams are created!

This is true for teams, between teams, in leadership, for sport, between peers. Let people feel that they can contribute to a meaningful task, that they are part of something bigger and that – on the way – they will benefit themselves.

If a goal is big enough, nobody can do it on its own.
